Advocates in Perpetuity
Standing with the Displaced. Serving Without Exception.
Who We Are
Global Safe House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and empowering displaced individuals across borders and identities. Our mission bridges legal advocacy and human support, from training attorneys in crisis zones to representing vulnerable individuals in immigration hearings. We also work closely with partner organizations that provide critical services beyond legal intervention, including housing, trauma recovery, and long-term support.
Our commitment extends beyond the immediate causes of displacement. We respond to deeply personal and systemic injustices—supporting survivors of gender-based violence, victims of human trafficking, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who face persecution for who they are. We view legal advocacy not as an endpoint, but as a doorway to dignity.
Our Origins
More than a decade ago, we founded our first resource center in response to the urgent needs of individuals whose voices were often excluded from mainstream legal protection. From the beginning, we focused on the transgender community, survivors of female genital mutilation, and women fleeing domestic violence abroad. What began as a focused initiative has grown into a global effort to safeguard those most often left behind.
A Turning Point
In 2016, the scope of our work deepened. We began training legal advocates to navigate the complexities of credible fear interviews at the border and expanded our efforts through in-person legal education seminars and policy recommendations tailored to local needs. At the same time, we elevated our media outreach to ensure that stories of survival and resistance were no longer silenced, but heard and acknowledged.
Our Distinction
What sets Global Safe House apart is our independence. As a self-funded organization, we operate with full autonomy and remain fully aligned with our mission. This freedom enables us to adapt quickly, stay community-centered, and pursue justice without compromise. We are not bound by the constraints of external funding or political pressure—we are bound only by our commitment to those we serve.
Our vision is unapologetically bold: to build a future in which there is no longer a need for the services we provide. Until that day comes, we remain an advocate in perpetuity.
