Training Opportunities

Classroom internships

We offer internships for class credit for students ranging from secondary education to university level education. Generally, each class is assigned to a real-life asylum case assisting an attorney from intake to submission of application or submission to Immigration Court.

With the United Nations International School, we crafted a program that allowed students to provide advisory arguments as well as conduct research on asylum seekers from Syria and South Africa. These individuals were displaced because of their social group and gender, respectively.

In one particular project, Sanjeevi from UNIS was able to assist our volunteer counsel in arranging evidence in the form of new articles and geographical notes as a supplement to an asylum application. Sanjeevi also presented comments and drafted advisory opinions that assisted counsel in their memoranda to the government agency. Sanjeevi successfully completed her work from intake to submission.
